It sounds like Scadoxus puniceus Jim. If it flowers this coming season, will put a photo link in an email. I must have bought it off Terry Hatch, yet I do not remember doing so at all. Looking that one up, it says it should not be kept wet in winter, yet it is here and seems to be doing well. It is in a shaded, damp position. And winter is wet here. Time will tell as to what it is.
