Hello All: I'm with Diana on this one.  I researched TMV and other 
tobamoviruses once, and even though I may not have the exact temperatures 
recalled correctly, it is virtually indestructible.  It survives hours of 
boiling water, alcohol, and probably anything short of a blowtorch or a 
solution that would lyse it.  If I remember, it can survive temps up to 400° 
F.

If you're  concerned  about infection-- don't use old plant parts of 
infected plants., and sterilize cutting tools with Clorox, let 'em soak. 
Minimum dilution of 1:10 Clorox to water.  Alcoholm won't do it.
