Subject : Re: [pbs] Origin of name
Alberto asked about the word oporanthum.
Alberto, the word oporanth- probably means "late summer flowering". Opora
was a Greek name for the period from late July to early September.
Note that used in the genus Acis (which is feminine) the form would be
oproantha: Acis autumnalis oporantha.
