Hello Chuck, I lived in the Eastern San Diego suburds for several years which is maybe slightly cooler then the SF Valley but we get a little less rain. I was growing several Cybister type Hippeastrum ( LaPaz, Lima and Chico varieties) in both pots and in ground. You have some very special ones...that likely have more exact requirements. Friends of mine raise the Cybister type I’ve given them on a west facing deck in Woodland Hills very close to you in pots very successfully. They use wide azalea pots as they like to encourage bulblet formation on the sides of their parent bulbs. Theirs get afternoon sun...about 5 hours in the summer direct and then bright shade...the plants always look great. Hope this helps and good luck, Mike On Sun, Feb 7, 2021 at 10:42 PM Chuck Goodman via pbs < pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> wrote: > I have about 12 different Hippeastrum such as H. harrisoni, H. striatum, H. > yungasensis, and some rarer ones like H. caupolicanense. > My green house fell apart years ago so I grow them in a garden window, on > heat mats and humidity trays. > My question is, what is the group’s opinion about moving the pots outdoors, > under a covered patio, with misters, in the spring and summer in Southern > California (Northridge)? > Thank you for any help you can provide! > Chuck > _______________________________________________ > pbs mailing list > pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net > http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… > Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> > _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net>
