Here in Central Massachusetts it has been normal-cold with alternating rain, snow, and slush (krap. ) Gray, depressing, flowerless, Covid-ridden. I worry for the crape myrtles and camellias of Texas. My niece is in Houston, dealing with a couple of days of rolling blackouts. Because she has a gas stove, she made a huge cauldron of pozole and fed all the old ladies on her street. Now her power is back on. When it gets cold in northern Mexico, people die.
