Elaine, Last year on a NARGS sponsored trip to Greece, we visited a commercial saffron field during harvest in early November. The crocus were growing in full sun with no supplemental irrigation that I could see. They plant the corms 6” deep - so surprising. It is much like California there in that rains start in the fall.
