For example, you can't do an effective sprouting test on most spring harvested winter rainfall species during the summer without a cooled growing chamber, and some may need several months' after ripening. To the poster asking about Lachenalia seed - it may be too early to sow in your region. It usually has high viability, and sprouts luxuriantly.
