The "seedling" is at least 7 years old, 9 cm tall, 4 cm wide and weighs 56 grams. It was grown from seed but I would not call it "tiny". See photo at http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/… My windowsills are not big enough to hold a pot this size. The roots are in-between white and brown, sort of a light tan. I did not cut them. Leo I read your article in the Bulb Garden with keen interest. It made me think "where there's a will there's a way". My climate here is nowhere near as challenging. It got up to 85 F today but that is rare. My A. belladonna bloom around 1 in 3 to 1 in 2 for their own mysterious reasons, not due to excessive drought or heat. So... it is a big enough bulb so I go with Alberto's no-water, right? - Gastil Santa Barbara, USA (between USDA 9b and 10a)
