My Watsonia pillansii are just coming into bloom. our weather has been so cool and mild (every brief warm spell more seeds planted last May sprout) that there is not much insect activity. We actually had light showers yesterday. As more of them come into bloom I want to insure they are pollinated. I'm wondering when the pistil becomes receptive. I have noticed that as the flowers age the pistil splits and each section curves back, the anthers are also releasing pollen at this time. The purple-lavender pollen is quite eye-catching against the bright orange petals. Randy, Monterey Bay Area, California Zone 9
