"Does anyone grow D amethystinum? All the seed I've received as that species has turned out to be (mostly) D meadia." Jerry, I have grown D. amethystinum from my own collections in W. Illinois in 2003. A couple of months ago I potted up 32 2-year old seedlings and they are still green. You are welcome to a few when they go down, which shouldn't be long. It is beautiful - see http://tinyurl.com/2vbwbr/ I don't show a portrait of the plant but it is much shorter than D. meadia.
