Dear All
I have a bulb (and its progeny) from the annual Kirstenbosch plant sale
which has never flowered in 10 years. Having lost its label meant I
couldn’t identify it as Cyrtanthus herrei or C obliquus as the leaves are
so similar BUT one needs winter water and the other needs summer water.
Quite a quandary.

Imagine the thrill to see a little bud last month and here is the result.
Clearly C herrei from the arid Richtersfeld in NW South Africa. So I have
great hopes that the progeny will flower too.
This plant stays in my conservatory which is heated for a few hours only in
the daytime in winter and gets extremely hot in summer.
