Hi, I've been trying to figure out the reason Dodecatheon was named Dodecatheon. It is Greek for the "Twelve Olympians," the 12 main gods that inhabited Mount Olympus in Greek mythology. What's that got to do with the flower? Dodecatheon was first coined by Linnaeus (Species Plantarum 1, p.144). But, why? I'd like to hear your ideas, no matter how far fetched. I have a far fetched idea but I'd like to hear yours first. Thanks! Travis Owen Rogue River, OR http://www.amateuranthecologist.com/ http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/
