Scilla madeirensis vs. pot

I planted 6 of the same bulbs in November and it took about 60 days for any top growth to appear. Because the bulbs come with all their roots removed, I believe that sets them back until new roots can support top growth. With rising temperatures now you may not see any growth until autumn, but hopefully you'll get some root growth this spring. I would water sparingly to try and coax a few roots from the bulbs.

I ordered 6 of these from Easy to Grow Bulbs at the end of January after reading about them on the PBS list. I potted them up (the bulbs looked fine) one per pot, but as yet there is no sign of any growth. They’ve been in the greenhouse at 40-75 degrees since then. I wasnt assuming flowers but thought i would at least get green growth before summer dormancy. Is it possible that their internal clock is all messed up by the trip from Israel (apparently that’s the source). Any suggestions.

My two bulbs look like they will also fail to flower this time around.

I planted several s.madeirensis in a large pot, and none of them did as well a the single bulb in a 10" pot.
