Many of you may already be aware of the discovery that Dodecatheon evolved from within the genus Primula. In a new blog article, I've elaborated on that with observations on the ecology of D. hendersonii, a complete history of the current nomenclature of the species, and characteristics which separate it from the genus Primula. Pollination ecology is a major factor: "Dodecatheon is monomorphic, having one floral form, unlike most species of Primula, yet is specialized for sonication, or buzz-pollination."
