The recent post " I grow my plants with close to no fertilizer so they are very slow but have no problems with winter losses." reminds me that I read somewhere that Calochortus are intolerant of chlorinated water. I water my bulb beds from a rainwater storage tank filled from the gutters on the roofed bulb house. It is tedious because of the low pressure but it avoids city water. In my former home I had a well with very pure water. Jane McGary Portland, oregon, USA
