I believe this is a species of Echeandia. It looks similar to this one, which hails from not too far away: http://ebay.com/itm/251296151072/… As the write-up indicates, I've grown it since 1998 and it has never flowered. I will send photos for the wiki at some point. I hope Alexis can return when the flowers open and take more photos! Unfortunately, modern floristic resources for Mexico are very thin. I could not find this distinctive plant in Flora Novo Galiciana, which treats many bulbs of western-central Mexico. There is also another large Echeandia-looking plant from the Tehuacan area with bright green leaves that looks even more like a Manfreda. Regards, Dylan * *
