Hi Dennis, You my friend have just come across the dreaded Narcissus Bulb Fly larva. I have been dealing with these little buggers for a long time. When you have a chance go to http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/… and look at the archives for this sucker and potential ways of rescuing your hippi. Good luck. I cut into my bulb and found live caterpillars inside. GROSS! What are they?? I never heard of anything in Ohio that would eat a Hippeastrum bulb from the inside out. YUCK.
