There are no bulbs at all flowering in my garden this week, but Camellia sasanqua 'Yuletide' is living up to its name. Like those in Jim McKenney's garden, my Helleborus niger are not yet blooming (neither are the Lonicera fragrantissima and Osmanthus fragrans that I always enjoy in January or February). In my greenhouse, Massonia depressa is almost finished flowering, and Hippeastrum aulicum have enormous seed capsules from blooming about a month ago. Habenaria lindleyana, a deciduous terrestrial orchid that grows from underground tuberoids, is in full bloom. Burbidgea schizocheila--a ginger, but I'll include it due to its rhizomes and the lack of true bulbs blooming right now--is putting on a beautiful show. Nick
