PBS, A few years ago a friend (Thanks Paige) sent me seeds of Puya mirabilis. I had never grown any in the genus and knew nothing. With a name like ‘mirabilis’ you HAVE to try it though. I sprnkled seed on regular potting mix and kept under lights. They grew fast, but never ourgrew a gallon pot. It is a terrestrial species so easy in a loose potting mix. Bloom within 3 (or 4) years -beautiful pale green flower heads. Made a ton of pups and seeds. Gave away most and kept one. Winter inside, but does have some frost hardiness. Summer outside in bright light. I found it very easy and satisfying. Of course the folliage is evil, but doesn’t need handlling much. It is a easy entry level Puya.
