I just noticed the first Lycoris radiata of the season in full bloom--hadn't noticed the inflorescence, because it was hidden by a clump of Spigelia marilandica until the buds opened.
First sign of incipient autumn. Before you know it, field crickets will replace katydids in the nocturnal serenade, the temperature will start to moderate, and I'll have to think about squeezing too many plants back into the greenhouse.
