I have not had so many lily beatle on lilies and on Crown Imperial (Frit.imperialis, a yellow form) as I have had this year. Hand picked 54 in one evening and Iknow 4 got away! As far as lilies are concerned they go morefrequently on the wider leaved sorts - simply more food? In today's newspaper there is an article on some British wild flowers with a Fritillaria meleagris covered meadow in Oxford as an illustration. The horrible thought comes to me that this must be a fantastic reservoir of lily beetles for those living nearby. Brian Whyer, Buckinghamshire, England, zone ~8
