Hello everyone. This is my first post here.
Is there anyone of you with experience in growing Amaryllis belladonna in a
tropical climate? I would appreciate some tips.
Thanks.

If you are purchasing seed from a reseller you may be getting old seed.
I’ve had no problem with seed from Silverhill as well as a few of the
wholesalers that supply many seed shops. I just use a basic seed starting
mix and just cover them lightly. Nothing special. The seeds were
harvested the previous season so don’t need to be planted immediately after
harvest. I don’t know if the same applies to Gloriosa but many deciduous
species I grow will not sprout the same season they are harvested. It
would seem the later the seed pods mature the more likely the seed have a
dormant period.

Does anyone have advice regarding propagating gloriosa seeds? Can they
be stored? Is scarification necessary? Have tried to germinate the seeds
multiple times over the years without much success.
