I looked through the rack of grocery store bulbs again tonight and spotted a bigger variety than I noticed before (tulips, alliums, fritillaries, anemones, daffodils, crocuses, glories of the snow - maybe I've forgotten a few). There was a crocus I have not seen offered in recent years ('Dorothy') and also Fritillaria bubs - in this case "Grape Blooms" F. uva-vulpis. At ten bulbs for $2.99, the price was right, so I bought one box of each. Inside the box was a plastic bag packed with wood shavings and the bulbs. In each case the bulbs were in excellent condition. One would expect that of the crocuses, but frits are often problematic. These were in great shape. Jim McKenneyMontgomery County, Maryland, USA, USDA zone 7, where the first colchicums should be just around the corner. _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/…
