Jane is right. The bulb companies aren't paying attention well enough to shipping dates. I had a bit of a tussle with Brent and Becky's Bulbs about shipping as they wanted to ship late October or November and I had to bend their heads (not so politely) by saying I was a professional nurseryman and to ship them in early September as, by golly, I know what I'm doing... Which reminds me - I need to call and remind them, just in case. When I ask my customers to tell me when they want their bulbs and plants, I respect their knowledge of where they live and comply. Consequently, I can't think of a single claim formally made for dead plants. I always hope they will tell me, however. The worst that has happened is that they claim to have received the wrong color or they did not receive a specific bulb, although in that instance, I distinctly remember packing it. Which goes to show - you should examine your shipping material quite carefully... I think it is necessary to be forceful about shipping dates, as rarely do people at these companies have any knowledge about our local conditions.
