If you are purchasing seed from a reseller you may be getting old seed. I’ve had no problem with seed from Silverhill as well as a few of the wholesalers that supply many seed shops. I just use a basic seed starting mix and just cover them lightly. Nothing special. The seeds were harvested the previous season so don’t need to be planted immediately after harvest. I don’t know if the same applies to Gloriosa but many deciduous species I grow will not sprout the same season they are harvested. It would seem the later the seed pods mature the more likely the seed have a dormant period. Tim Chapman > > Does anyone have advice regarding propagating gloriosa seeds? Can they be stored? Is scarification necessary? Have tried to germinate the seeds multiple times over the years without much success. > _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/…
