Scilla melaina in the rock garden.

The World Checklist of Selected Plant Families lists Scilla melaina <
http://wcsp.science.kew.org/namedetail.do/… > as an accepted
plant name. So I guess we are safe in using it. Most of the names once
included in Scilla seem to have wandered elsewhere in recent years, so this
is a refreshing exception to the rest of the nomenclatorial migrations.

I too believe this is the current name, although it was proposed to move
it to
Othocallis at one point. It also differs from Scilla siberica by having a
faint
lighter green central band the length of the leaf, on the dorsal side.
This
stripe can be seen in the photo Terry posted, on the nearer leaves on the
closer
plant cluster.
