My best story was cleaning up a flower bed in early spring. I was sitting on the ground and I picked up a bunch of dead leaves with my bare hands. I noticed something wriggling and thought it was a big worm which I would put back where I found it. But I had a handful of baby garter snakes and they found their own way back to the ground before I could comprehend what had just happened!
