Vlad, My B. haemanthoides are dormant in summer. Their leaves tend to die in April-June and are always gone by July when bloom stems emerge from mature bulbs. If you are growing in terra cotta with no summer moisture you may be growing it too dry. Without summer water, you should grow in plastic or glazed ceramic. In their natural habitat some summer/dry season rain still falls and their roots have deep run into soil layers that retain moisture into the dry season. -|<ipp ________________________________ From: pbs <pbs-bounces@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> on behalf of Vlad Volosciuc via pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Sent: Friday, August 21, 2020 10:06 AM To: Pacific Bulb Society <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Cc: Vlad Volosciuc <vladimir_volosciuc@yahoo.com> Subject: [pbs] Boophone haemanthoides Dear all, Anyone growing Boophone haemanthoides, I need you advice please. I know that is it a winter growing bulb, but how does it behave during summer? It grows in the biggest clay pot I had in my hard (about 40 cm wide and deep). Was this a mistake, since it is a young offset (I assume about 3 years old)? Any advice is much appreciated, thank you.
