I have several clumps of Vagaria parviflora and they flower profusely every year, in the ground. While not a gaudy color and the smallish size of the flowers, a clump of many spieks is rather showy, not to mention the leaves in winter. Yes, it's hysterianthous like Pancratium canariense, foetidum and many South African amaryllids. I think most of these big amaryllids with perennial roots don't perform well in pots, unless very big. They haven't shown any leaf damage during the icy winter 2017, when temps went down to 24F (-4°C) for some days.
