Jane's report on fritillarias gave me a dash of nostalgia for the California Fritillaria. Attached is a photo from a few years back in Berkeley. The four species, starting clockwise, are the beautiful red Fritillaria recurva, Fritillaria affinis, Fritillaria pluriflora, and Fritillaria purdyi. These are frail but lovely reminders of spring time on the Pacific Coast.
