Bugs on Crinum and Fritillaria

Thank you all for your help....and your patience. Now I have some idea of
what is going on with the fritillarias. Hopefully, I’ll be showing some
blooming plants in no time.

Hello Arnold,

This is all a little embarrassing. When digging through the plants to get
a picture of the culprit bugs, I learned that most of the "bugs" were dried
seedpods from the crape myrtle tree that is overhead. However, I did find
the bug in the attached picture hidden in the mix.

This all started because I noticed my fritillarias dying. They are the two
plants with the yellowing leaves in the center of the attached picture.

They look like a beetle of some sort. I checked the wiki, but none of

the

insects seemed to match.

For what it's worth, I'm in northwest Louisiana, USA. Zone 8b.

I have included some pictures.
