At first glance, your neighbor's resembles my Gladiolus italicus but mine
bloomed in April. Look and see if yours matches these photos:

There are several Gladiolus species that look similar.
Im waiting until I see the mature seeds to confirm my id before posting my
photos to the wiki since G. italicus have distinct seeds. It is a winter
grower so compared to the summer-growing Gladiolus it could be called
early.
