At the close of another year, I find myself reflecting on blessings. The Pacific Bulb Society has had such a wonderful impact on my life. My interest in geophytes began at a young age, and although I first found out about the existence of favourite genera such as Brunsvigia via Paul Christian's catalogue descriptions and the early IBS web gallery, it wasn't until I found PBS discussion archives in 2004 on the web that the amazing world of geophytes really opened up for me. I cannot measure the enormity how much I've learnt in the last 7 years from the discussion archives and the PBS wiki. If it weren't for the many excellent and generous contributors to the PBS and the tireless efforts of those who organise and keep it running, my horticultural life would be much poorer. Thank you everyone for making the PBS a place where one feel welcome to come learn and share. I think it's pretty remarkable that this space has been kept largely free of the pettiness and conflict that I have encountered in many other plant groups with an on-line presence. I hope we can all work to strengthen the PBS and the wiki in the coming year! Aloha nui, Jacob Knecht Berkeley, California P.S.
