So I got a share of the #27 Gladiolus huttonii bulbs from this BX, but the plants that grew out of them look more like Romulea to me. Sadly I missed the flowers, but the dried up corollas were a bluish-purple color—i’d guess they were lavender to blue when they were in bloom. The flowers were probably not much more than 1 cm in diameter, short-lived, and appear to be self-fertile if the seed pods are any indication. The plants themselves are quite hardy, they withstood several light frosts outside in our admittedly mild Seattle winter before I brought them inside a month ago. Of course, it’s always possible I somehow mixed things up and put the label in the wrong pot, but I don’t think that’s what happened... Fred, or anybody else who received these bulbs, can you confirm my suspicions (or my mistake!) and do you have any idea what this is?
