Don’t forget the Aril Society International (http://www.arilsociety.org/index.pl?Intro <http://www.arilsociety.org/index.pl?Intro>) which covers Oncocyclus, Regelia and all other arillate irises. They have an annual seed and plant exchange sale. They have a regular newsletter and can providde a wealth of information about growing various species in many parts of the world. Many of these are difficult subjects, but a number can be grown by most gardeners in the US with some special considerationss of drainage and watering. Good Luck Jim W. Raising these plants from seed can take a long time, because the seeds may germinate the year after planting or even 4 or 5 years later. The seeds should not carry any viruses. Gardeners in the southwestern United States grow many Oncocyclus irises, usually hybrids, and some of them may sell plants. You might find them by searching with Google for "Oncocyclus hybrids." These species do not tolerate much rain, so I grow them under cover.
