Hi Jim, From a discussion regarding "The Identity and Typification of Amaryllis Belladonna included in Sealy, J.R. (1939), it appears that Carl Linnaeus the Younger (i.e., the son of Carl Linnaeus) is credited as the source for the name Amaryllis equestris. Sealy, J. R. "Amaryllis and Hippeastrum."
