My understanding is that L. davidii has stem bulblets not stem bulbils. Most stem bulblets are found underground along the stem and stem bulbils are at leaf axils. One of them mentions root bulbils, however. I did check with a hand lens on minute serrations or teeth on the leaves to confirm this feature. Attached are two photos of my plant which is distinctly shorter than L. davidii ssp. willmottiae. The flowers have not so far curved back to the degree typical of ssp. willmottiae either and according to my key, this plant would qualify as var. unicolor since it's pale orange, has much sparser maroon dots on the petals and is a shorter plant with refined leaves, although the flowers are the same size as ssp. willmottiae. Forgot to check last night for fragrance. I have several of these coming along and at least one more should bloom soon.
