Babiana corms

I'd be interested .. either BX or privately.
I've been meaning to ask, I think I read that you live in Elk? I'm curious
how far from the coast you are, to get an idea of what your garden
conditions are like. My parents are just north of the Big River Bridge,
east of Mendocino village, so damp, damp, damp (and on clay soil). I'm
currently in Santa Cruz, in the warmest part of town, so 'hot' during the
day but foggy at night. I figure your conditions are either going to be
like mine or like theirs :) and the CA and SA bulbs you grow are some of my
favorites!

I have dug up a lot of Babiana corms, descendants of some I grew from
seed more than 30 years ago. I think they are hybrids of Babiana
stricta. I'll attach a photo taken in May this year and I also added
photos to the wiki.

I recall that in the past I sent a bunch to the BX and they weren't very
popular. Maybe that is because they aren't very hardy and the drying
foliage doesn't pull off easily in the beginning so either you have to
cut it off or put up with how it looks for awhile.
Still, they have a soft spot in my heart since Babiana was Rachel
Saunders' favorite bulb. I don't know whether I should send them again
to the BX or just ask people to contact me privately if they would like
some so I can be sure that they would end up going to people who wanted
them and not be an extra burden for Luminita. They should work out well
in parts of California if you have a spot that you can plant them in
that you don't care how it looks when they die back. They can also be
grown in pots.
