Hi: Very interesting. Here we grow about a dozen different color forms of Ferraria crispa (sent to PBS BX for distribution) all obtained from open pollination of our plants of this species. They definitely strongly smell of vanilla when in flower with a triffle of cough medicine. It is not imposible that other species smell differently. Smell is not so strong and evident in other species but this Spring I will positively check the smell of other species in flower.
