Jim McKenney asked about Anemone biflora. The photo in Rix & Phillips is also what stimulated me to seek out this plant, but I have to tell Jim and the other readers that it's misleading: the actual plant and its flowers are very small, the flowers being only about 2 cm in diameter when open. It is, however, hardy to at least 20 F. I expect the difficulty in obtaining it has to do with the fact that it is uncommon even in the wild, and the British seem to have a lot of trouble growing it. I've obtained viable seeds from my two plants and have a few seedlings, but they're difficult to bring on. Jane McGary Northwestern Oregon, USA
