It’s s big genus with a wide range of habitats, so I doubt there’s a single answer. Under my greenhouse conditions, H. aulicum, H. papilio, and H. calyptratum bloom in autumn or early winter after a short summer dormancy. H. striatum blooms late winter to spring. Hippeastrum x johnsonii, Hippeastrum ‘Meade Strain’, and Sonatini hybrids grown outdoors (zone 7) bloom in late spring after winter dormancy.
