Leptochiton is a genus of two species in the family Amaryllidaceae closely related to Ismene and Hymenocallis. It is native to Ecuador and Peru.
Leptochiton quitoensis is found in Ecuador and Peru. Photos by Dylan Hannon who says "from dry areas of western Ecuador. This could be considered an 'ephemeral bulb' since its growth season is so short - from about December to March. It is a warm tropical plant and is not a winter grower in the sense of a Mediterranean climate bulb. The flowers have a very nice fragrance."
Leptochiton helianthus is endemic to Peru.
