Cyanixia is a cormous genus in the Iridaceae family with only one species. It is a member of the Watsonieae tribe. For more information consult The Iris Family: Natural History and Classification.
Cyanixia socotrana (Hook.f.) Goldblatt & J.C.Manning is endemic to the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean in 1880. It was originally thought to belong to the genus Babiana as Babiana socotrana Hook.f., but Goldblatt et. al. in 2004, placed it in a new genus. It has sword shaped to lanceolate lightly pleated leaves and radially symmetric long-lived blue flowers with exserted anthers.
