Exactly. In this case, the cross was Ugly Duckling x White Wedding, where White Wedding was a commercial white ~7" diameter flower and Ugly Duckling was a 6" diameter cross I made between two since forgotten commercial crosses from Home Depot. I gave it the name Ugly Duckling because when it first bloomed, I was monumentally unimpressed as I saw a tannish gray flower from a distance. After a few weeks, as I was trying to decide whether to throw it out, I got close enough to notice that the color was made of red and green lines, which seemed a lot more interesting. Before I joined PBS I was a member of IBS and posted an image with the name "Ugly Duckling" and received no comments. Later I emailed an image to Herb Kelly and he decided he really liked it and said we would call it "Alluring" instead of Ugly Duckling. When he posted the same image and put the bulbs up for the BX as Alluring, the comments were "Is this really as beautiful as the image?" and they all sold out immediately at $60 each. I'll try to dig up an image of Alluring nee Ugly Duckling to post. Tim Eck "Time is nature's way of preventing everything from happening at once."
