id help

Hi,
I wonder if anyone might be able to help with id on this plant which I  found growing against the wall of a nearby coffee shop in SE NC (8B).  It was pretty obviously put there but a landscaper, but I have not seen it used in this area before.  It appears to be some sort of irid and seems pretty well suited for what I suspect is complete neglect.  The panicles are around 2/3' tall and covered with small blue Sisyrinchium-like flowers
