Dear All, Here are some more pictures of an interesting Iris. This is a different habitat on terra rossa. The identity of this tall Iris is not certain (Iris pallida tall form, Iris mesopotamica, Iris sicula?) neither if this is a wild plant or a garden escape. It is the tallest Iris I have ever seen, the flowering stems can be up to 150cm tall. It is a winter growing summer dormant plant, deciduous during dormancy. The pictures show the overall look, details of flowers and foliage, the orchid grows in the same place, a showy plant. This place becomes hot and dry, the soil will bake very hard, only to go soft again after rain. Bye for now Uli -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
