damp stratification

Hi Tim,

I haven’t used your specific chemical before, but lately with bulb seeds I have been treating them with a mist of 200-400ppm gibberellic acid, I dissolve it in grain alcohol and then dilute it with water to the final solution. I soak the large seeds and for smaller ones I sow them and then mist with the solution. The alcohol acts as a sterilant and I have had very little problems with fungal issues and it really does speed up germination.

I do rotate between immunox and sulfur fungicides once germination has started for the dreaded damping off period.

It can also be done using disposable tupperware, but it is a bit harder to make sure they don't dry out over long storage. In either case, get the mix really moist and microwave for a few minutes. I have found this to kill pathogens, not to mention fungus gnat eggs. You might try this alone or in combination with your fungicide.
