I have experienced sudden after-dormancy disappearance of Galanthus nivalis regina-olgae and also Sauromatum guttatum. In the first instance it was a healthy colony for several years, multiplying nicely. Looked good going into dormancy then suddenly never reappeared when its growing season returned. Sauromatum was also doing quite well, multiplying nicely. Then one year never awakened after dormancy. Each time I dug around but there was nothing to discover, no rotten remnants such as cannas left in the ground over winter. And now that I think about it - decades ago back in Wilton, Connecticut all of my Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex' similarly vanished, from all the several areas where they had been happily growing. Is a mystery.
