New Year's Day flowers

In flower January 1, 2024, in a suburb of Portland, Oregon (lat. 45 deg.
31' N, long. 122 deg. 4' W):

In the open garden, 5 varieties of Galanthus, Cyclamen coum, Crocus
etruscus, Viola odorata, Anemone japonica, Antirrhinum hybrids,
Chimonanthus praecox, rose 'The Fairy', 4 varieties of sasanqua
camellias, Mahonia 'Arthur Menzies', Jasminum nudiflorum. In the
covered, unheated bulb house, Colchicum cupanii, Colchicum sp. white
flowers, Colchicum candidissimum (unverifiable name), Colchicum sp. ex
Lerik, Turkey, Colchicum 'Velebit Star', Colchicum hungaricum; Crocus
cambessedesii, Crocus laevigatus; Iris planifolia; Narcissus
cantabricus, Narcissus hoop petticoat hybrids and various taxa/forms
received as albidus, zaianicus, etc.; Sternbergia candida (very big this
year).

December was unusually mild here, and foliage in the bulb house is
visibly advanced. Temperature in the bulb house (high of about 48 F
today) are the same as outdoors because the sides are not covered; it is
only for moisture control.

I would welcome a discussion, preferably on the Forum where we can post
photos, of Narcissus section Bulbocodium. There are various views of the
nomenclature, and I doubt we can reach consensus, but there are many
early, delightful plants in this group. The bulb mixtures I sent out to
about 20 people last summer will contain many of them, and I'm getting
photos to identify already.
