Vancouver Island has no coyotes but lots of cougars. They aren’t generally shot. When a cougar is roaming near a school, the children are kept inside. And the cougar that entered someone’s apartment was just moved to a wild area. They don’t manage to keep our deer in check, though. When I was young, about 1945, we used to make special trips to see deer in the forest. I don’t know what encouraged them to overrun our cities.
